As it stands proudly over Yellowhead Lake, this 3000m peak represents both; the border of Alberta and BC and a mystery I could not solve. As I approached it from the sky, I knew I had reached the highest point of my return journey over the great divide. But as a strange wind attacked it from every side, the climb I had expected back up to the clouds was nowhere to be found. After 30-minutes of hovering around its jagged peak I made the hasty choice to glide to the north side of the 15 km-wide valley. With minimal altitude, I found myself stuck low in strong valley wind once over the alpine lake and after another hour of fighting, bowed down to the mighty Fitzwilliam and landed high in the mountains.
