With less than 50 m of visibility at times, and 200 km to go before arriving at my final destination, I had waited patiently on McBride Peak for an entire week and realized it would be at least another two weeks before any relief. Stubborn as I had been, flying just three times, and a total of 150 km, over the course of the last three smoky weeks, on the morning of August 23rd I pulled the plug and resolved to walk the remaining distance to BC's northern capital, the city of Prince George.
